Mrs. Ezzie Mae Foster-Lewis was born on July 11th in Moundsville, Alabama. She was the third of nine children born to Frinyon and Lucy Foster. Six siblings preceded her in death.

The family moved to Parkdale, Arkansas when she was a child. At an early age, she accepted Christ as her personal savior. Mrs. Lewis moved to Gilmore, Arkansas in 1937. She united in holy matrimony to Mr. Walter Lewis. They were married several years. He preceded her in death.

She united with the Union Grove Baptist Church under the pastoral ship of Rev. Lonnie Cash. She was in good faith and good standing with her church until her death. Some of Mrs. Lewis' church activities included: choir member, chairman of the Harvest Day Program for many years, member of East Arkansas District Association where she delivered the State of the County Address annually for several years, and an active member of Eastern Star.

Mrs. Lewis' formal education was in the public school system in Dermott, Arkansas. She graduated from high school with special honors. She later attended Rust College in Holly Springs, MS., graduating with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. Mrs. Lewis decided to further her education by attending Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, graduating with a Masters Degree in Education. Mrs. Lewis taught in the following school systems: Edmondson School District, Proctor School District, and Wonder Elementary School (32 years) in the West Memphis School District. After over forty years of teaching, Mrs. Lewis retired in 1977.

Mrs. Lewis departed this life Saturday, October 21, 2000 at 1:30 pm in Crittenden Memorial Hospital. She leaves to cherish her memory, tow sisters, Mrs. Ora French of West Memphis, Mrs. Mattie Jackson, of St. Louis, MO; One sister-in-law, Mrs. Johnnie B. Foster Fuller; a brother-in-law, Mr. Loud Jackson; a God Son, Calmon D. Clark; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
