Welcome to the Foster Family

The roots of this family tree had its beginning with Jerry, Hardy and Cowdy, who came to Alabama from south Carolina and Virginia. Two brothers, whose last names were Foster, brought them to Alabama and purchased property from the Black Warrior River to Ralph, Alabama. they sought better economic conditions. Their lot was hard, but with deep convictions, hard work and trust in the Almighty God, they had a sense of hope that one day their labor would be rewarded. As a result of this hope this land that was purchased became know as FOSTER, ALABAMA. It was here that they lived together happily and their children lived to get married, worked hard and had families of their own. This tradition is still evident with descendents still living in the area.

Jerry and Mahalla were united in holy matrimony. He was destined to become a servant of God. To this union was born nine children: seven boys, Edley, Frinyon, Toyar, Jerry, Richmond, Titus, and John Westley; tow girls, Pinkie Alice, and Carrie.

God has been gracious and merciful to this Foster family, because He has given us strength, the will, the courage, and desire to keep the closeness of the family bonded through Family Reunions. We pray that his love will sustain us in our endeavors to continue this memorable occasion.

As a family may we forever hold dear our rich heritage and religious training that our foreparents tried to instill within us during their life span. May we be mindful of the fact that God still sits high and looks low. He still has our lives in his hands so it behooves all of us to work for him while it is still day, because we know not the time nor the hour when He shall come to claim us.
